Since 2011, we have been working alongside ubitricity towards the vision of a nationwide charging infrastructure for electric cars. In the UK, ubitricity already operates the largest public charging network, with more than 8,000 charging points.
We have now developed ‘Heinz’ – a charging point mounted on a lamppost specifically for the German market – which is fully compliant with industry standards and allows city dwellers to charge their vehicles easily using a standard Type 2 cable right on their doorstep.
Context
The Heinz charging point brings electric-vehicle charging to existing street-light locations, using a standard Type 2 cable.
Work
We contributed ideation, concept design, industrial design, mechanical engineering, and colour, material and finish decisions. The project connects the physical design with its urban use context.
